Member associations in BSRB that negotiate for municipal employees, (apart from employees of the City of Reykjavík) agreed on the Katla members' fund in the wage agreements for their members in March 2020, with a validity period from 1 January 2020 to 31 March 2023.
Membership in the fund can also include people that works for Hjallastefnan, and those who works in nursing homes and have the same provision in their collective agreement for their members whit the municipalities. The fund's income in 2020 was 1.24% of the total salaries of the employees who are members of the fund.
Members of the Katla Members' fund are all unions that negotiate for municipal employees and are member of BSRB, Sameyki for their municipal employees, except those who works for City of Reykjavík, the Landssamband slökkviliðs og sjúkraflutningamanna and Sjúkraliðafélag Íslands, see further later.
The board of the Katla member´s fund is elected at the annual general meeting for three years at a time. The board member´s comes from the Unions that are responsible for the fund. The role of the fund is to increase the opportunities for fund members for professional development, e.g. by attending education and by attending conferences, congresses and seminars to develop their skills.
